The apartment was nicely cleaned, but out of town and small for what we were paying- 1000$. Later on we discovered that the "nicely cleaned" part would come out of our deposit and they were quite strict on this- any towels that were stained or not fluffy enough, minimal vacuuming, not shiny floor, not shiny couch. They would determine the price of the cleaning based on their expensive housekeepers hours. (and drycleaners) For a $20 rug, we were sent a receipt for $50 drycleaning (hey, at least slightly eco, right ;-)) We were allotted 50$ of electricity a month and somehow it went above, so another 150$ came out of the deposit from that. Essentially, expect that all of your deposit will be gone or just squat in the last month, that works too. Asheville Riff-Raff is a local facebook page where you can find rentals besides craigslist.
